Coffee & Photography – the perfect combination?

I’m very excited to say that I got invited to display my photographs on the wall at Shutter and Brew! Shutter and Brew is a cafe on the North Side of Brisbane which combines two things a lot of people love – coffee and photography. It is a gorgeous little retro cafe with beautiful recycled timber walls with a gallery of local amateur photographers work displayed on one wall of the cafe while Cam (the owner) displays his work on the other wall. All prints are for sale and new photography work is displayed on a four weekly cycle.

Cam and his lovely wife Laura took 3 months to fit out the shop and I saw the before picture.It wasn’t pretty with lime green walls and torn up linoleum flooring. They have done an amazing job getting it to the cute little cafe it is today. Cam and his wife are the loveliest people and always willing to have a chat about their photography adventures.

Also sold in the cafe is an adorable range of camera cushions, old vintage cameras, hand made camera straps, etc. They also run workshops in the cafe and there are regular customer photography outings in and around Brisbane for anyone that is interested. But is the coffee good? Well, I have a confession to make……I don’t actually drink coffee! I know, what’s wrong with me right? Im more of a chai tea girl but my husband is a coffee snob and he tells me that the coffee is really good. I can also recommend the banana bread which is hand made by Laura that comes toasted with maple syrup. Divine! There are also some other lovely sweet treats available and a few breakfast items. There is a great atmosphere to the place and Cam and Laura always make you feel very welcome, so stop in for a brew and check out the local photography talent. You won’t be disappointed.
