I recently spent a beautiful weekend in the charming little countryside town – Daylesford, Victoria.

This quaint little town is a hidden gem, known for its natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and therapeutic hot springs.

One of the most remarkable features of Daylesford is it’s picturesque countryside, dotted with rolling hills and sprawling farmland. This is a perfect place for those who are looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Whether you are a nature lover, a photographer, or simply looking for a peaceful place to relax, you will be enchanted by the breathtaking views of this region.

The Best things to see and do!

After arriving on the early flight from Brisbane into Melbourne we found our hire car and drove the 1 hour and 20 minutes to Daylesford. The whole reason I wanted to see Daylesford was for the lavender that blooms around Sault Restaurant. It looks like a photographers dream and I hat heard it was in bloom. By the time we arrived in Daylesford we were starving so we stopped in at the Daylesford Cider Company. We tried the cider tasting paddle which gave us the opportunity to sample all the different flavours of cider. We were also recommended the toastie by the owner of the company which was absolutely delicious!

Lake Daylesford

After lunch I went to have a look at Lake Daylesford which is a short stroll from town. This lake was so picturesque with a track that you can walk the entire way round. It was just so peaceful and pretty here. Such a great place for a picnic or BBQ with friends and family.

Sunset by the Lake

Later that afternoon I wanted to watch the sunset by the lake. We found some beautiful lavender and enjoyed a peaceful end to the day with ducks swimming around the lake. No one else was around. We had the whole place to ourselves and it was magical.

Sunrise at Sault Restaurant Lavender Farm

The next day we were up early to catch the sunrise from Sault Restaurant. This place is amazing. The old English building that houses the restaurant is stunning and the rows of lavender fields that run down to the chapel is so pretty. Then there is a lake in the background to top it all off! Unfortunately the lavender wasn’t quite in full bloom. I read that they replanted a different variety of lavender this year which meant it was late to flower. January is the best time to visit if you want to see the fields in full bloom.

The Best Breakfast Spot

If you want to try something different for breakfast I highly recommend trying Cliffy’s Emporium. This place is a popular breakfast spot and gift store located in the heart of Daylesford, Victoria. It offers a diverse range of locally sourced gifts and souvenirs, including handcrafted jewellery and artisanal soaps. The store also features an in-store café, serving delicious coffee and tea, as well as a charming breakfast menu. With its warm and friendly atmosphere, Cliffy’s Emporium is the perfect place to start your day in Daylesford, whether you’re looking for a unique breakfast experience or a unique memento of your visit to this quaint town.

Lake Daylesford Sunrise

After sunrise at Sault Restaurant we stopped in at Lake Daylesford on the way to breakfast. It was so calm and tranquil with not a breath of wind. The reflections of the clouds on the water was amazing and it was lovely just to spend some time in nature with nobody around!
